Odelson, Murphey, Frazier & McGrath Ltd. is pleased to welcome back Safaa Zarzour as Senior Counsel in the firm. Mr. Zarzour began his legal career with the firm in 2004 before embarking on his journey as a public servant, education advocate and founding partner of Zarzour Law, LLC. Mr. Zarzour returns to his legal roots and will concentrate his practice in school and municipal law, business and real estate development, corporations, wills & trusts, and litigation. Mr. Zarzour holds a Juris Doctor Degree from DePaul University’s School of Law, a Master’s in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Arkansas State University.
For the last three decades, Mr. Zarzour has had an extensive record in civic and community institutions. Currently, he is an elected board member of Oak Lawn Community High School District 229, a board member and former longtime chairman of the Council of Islamic Schools of North America (CISNA), a member of the advisory board of the Lake Institute on Faith and Giving, a board member of the Mosque Foundation, the Vice President of the Syrian Forum USA, and the President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).
Previously, he served as Secretary General of ISNA, General Counsel and Chief Operations Officer of Zakat Foundation of America, and Chief Executive Officer of IQRA International Foundation.
Professionally, Mr. Zarzour is the Superintendent of Universal School and MTI School of Knowledge located in Illinois and Indiana. He also serves as prosecutor for the Village of Bridgeview and the Village of Lyons and adjudicator for the Village of Summit.
