Matthew J. Daley concentrates his practice in municipal liability, workers’ compensation, and employment and labor. In addition, he also has an impressive background in criminal defense matters. Matt earned his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in 2003.
Matt previously served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, he tried hundreds of cases to verdict through both bench and jury trials, having prosecuted crimes in the Public Interest Bureau, Domestic Violence Division, and the Sixth Municipal District.
Matt’s experience with municipalities includes advising suburban planning and zoning boards, resolving claims involving damages to utilities, and handling grievance hearings and interest arbitration cases relating to collective bargaining agreements. He has actively promoted crime-free ordinances for municipalities and has presented seminars designed to educate residents on the costs and benefits of establishing these community enhancement measures.
In his workers’ compensation practice, Matt has extensive experience handling matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, including proceeding to trial numerous times, as well as the review and appeal process through the Circuit Court and Appellate Court.
Matt is married to Sarah (née Young), and they have 3 children.
