On January 27, 2016, Mike McGrath was successful in obtaining a court order to put the question of whether to join the Tri-State Fire Protection District on the march 15, 2016 ballot. The residents of Willow Springs will decide whether to join the Fire Protection District or not. Currently, the Village is served by Tri-State on a contractual basis. The referendum, if successful, will allow the Village to permanently be a part of the District.
